About

I'm a late starter to painting, I picked up the brush and some colours about 10 years ago. I had tried oils and been frustrated by the time they took to dry so found that acrylics suited my impetuous temperament better. All the paintings in my gallery are acrylic on stretched canvas.
Inspiration is an elusive thing which cannot be conjured up instantly. I struggle with it at times, then a particular scene appears and I'm inspired to attempt to paint it. I particularly enjoy capturing light and shade and reflections on water as well as reflected light on surfaces.
I was brought up in the town of Kirkcudbright Scotland and was greatly influenced by my father who was a keen artist. I spent 26 years living in Hong Kong and the Far East before settling down in Stamford Lincolnshire. I still maintain strong ties with Kirkcudbright and Hong Kong. My paintings depict the landscape, urban form and character of those three very contrasting environments.
I hope you enjoy my paintings and get as much pleasure from them as I have had from painting them. If you would like an original painting of your favourite scene or pet, please get in touch via the Contact Page.
